Re: Icebreakers time!

Thanks @0ddsidian

Only recently been diagnosed with adhd and asd so still learning

Re: Icebreakers time!

Nah @ArraDreaming , I wouldn't call you stubborn at all. There are times when you are persistant, but I wouldn't stay this stems from stubborness. If anything, you are one of the least stubborn people I know!

Let's call it the ADHD persistance maybe? Is that even a thing?

Re: Icebreakers time!

I had a homewarming once, and bought all the guests a gift. Part of the gift was getting everyone a mini Nutella jar with their names on it @0ddsidian @Captain24 !

I LOVE nutella!

Re: Icebreakers time!

And yes, I go sourdough too. Sourdough with olives! Yum @0ddsidian

Re: Icebreakers time!

See @tyme,; we align on a lot of things... but olives is NOT one of them. I will eat and generally enjoy a lot of foods, but I will not eat olives.

Re: Icebreakers time!

I've had my diagnoses for quite a few years now @Captain24 and I am definitely still learning. I don't think it's possible for me to ever stop learning, or for me to know everything about my ADHD / Autism (which I will now refer to as AuDHD). Part of the Autism side means that I can have very black and white thinking, and really desire certainty. Unfortunately life if very much "grey" and uncertain. Sitting with that is SO HARD!

I've seen so many people on the Forums with this combination and similar challenges, and it really reinforces to me that we're not alone in how we feel / experience the world. Always happy to learn and reflect together ♥️

Re: Icebreakers time!

@ArraDreaming - Story of my life. I get so frustrated with myself some days!

How do you reckon it impacts you the most?

For me -

Challenges are; impulse spending, impulsive eating, task paralysis (which largely impacts my ability to keep my house clean or do "life admin").

Positives are; I am quite creative and have heaps of ideas, I am curious and always want to know "why", I can bounce between different tasks pretty easily / quickly.

Re: Icebreakers time!

@tyme hmm interesting

maybe your right, maybe not stubborn because I think I’m pretty open and reflective but also sometimes can get hell bent on certain things, persistent I guess?

@0ddsidian

ADHD affects me every single day, in more ways I could make a list for quickly tonight, my concentration, my emotional regulation, my anger, my organisation, my social connections, my memory - but you know also what’s trauma and what’s adhd and what’s also just me… im yet to find out as im not medicated

I feel like, this is just my opinion and maybe not appropriate for this thread but it’s becoming so common to label other things as adhd traits when we are still humans with temperaments and personalities aside from adhd, and not every trait we have is linked to adhd or asd… but thats just my thoughts

Re: Icebreakers time!

Definitely black or white @0ddsidian. I hate anything in between.

When do assessments I felt like I didn’t fit all th adhd stuff and was a bit opposite. Now that she looked into ASD it all makes so much more sense as to why I’m so conflicted with everything.

Re: Icebreakers time!

That's a really good reflection @ArraDreaming. You're probably right that the icebreakers thread isn't the most optimum place to talk about all of this ADHD / Autism stuff (honestly, that's on me). I definitely relate to the point you're making though, so if you'd like to reflect or hash this stuff out more on a different thread I'm definitely down 😊 Totally up to you. Could use THIS one that Jynx made ages ago, or wherever you feel is the best. Just tag me wherever.
