Daily Dose of Prose

@hanami @tyme @AussieRecharger

Thank you to all those kind souls who commented on my poem yesterday. I am quite new here, only joined yesterday. I write poems, short stories, kids stories. I will commit to posting something on a daily basis, my words help me to cope with my own mental demons, but I modestly hope, they may prove enlightening or motivating to others trying to live with mental illness. I sincerely wish you a journey replete with love and understanding.

Here is my post for today, a poem I wrote likening our lives and the end, to an unfinished piece of music

Everyone's death
Is tragically,
An unfinished
Symphony

The orchestra plays
Then bizarrely,
Suddenly stops.
No finale.

Much like our lives
We sing a tune,
With no last verse,
It ends too soon

Re: Daily Dose of Prose

@JustinSane - You write about Death and the suddenness of it.  What is it you feel that happens when we are no longer living? Do you have a poem about what comes next?

@Bow
Thank you very much, I'll post something each day

Thanks for the message. My personal belief is that death is the total extirpation, annihilation of the individual, nothing remains except the memories of us in those we leave behind. I think I expressed my beliefs in this poem, a reflection on life and death, I called the poem

OUR EARTHLY VISIT

Our earthly visit
What really is it?
One thing's for certain
One day this curtain
Will be drawn
No new dawn
Will greet our eyes
No new sunrise
No life eternal
No hell infernal
No soul to live on
After we have gone
We fade to black
And don't come back
Yet we pretend
Our lives don't end
That we're immortal
That death's a portal
To a better place
With nary a trace
Of hate or spite
Things are put right
By a god who cares
Answers our prayers
But it's just a myth
To help us cope with
Our ultimate fate
On that unknown date
When our last breath
Signals our death
Out goes the fire
And we expire
At nature's behest
We are laid to rest
In coffin or urn
Never to return
This life's all we've got
So give it your best shot
There's much to be tasted
No day should be wasted
Give it all you can give
Learn, laugh, love and live
And treat this earthly visit
As precious and exquisite.
