Re: impulsiveness

Hey @Eden1919 hope you are feeling better soon! There are lots of articles on magnesium and mental ilness which will inform you further. Its been my saving grace when I've started to get manic or depressed. The prices vary but you dont need much just a few sprays applied topically to the skin. It will stop you from spiraling out of control and will make you feel calmer and better able to respond to your life.  Good luck with it I hope you enjoy using it in your new mental illness tool kit 🙂

Hello,

I looked up "magnesium oil recipe" on the internet. There are a number of straight forward, easy to prepare recipes offered on the internet, under this heading. The recommendation, for a number of stated reasons, is to use magnesium chloride (as distinct from magnesium sulphate - epsom salts).

The "oil" does not use any oil in its preparation, unless a very small addition of essential oil is used, for additional effectiveness and perfume. It is, apparently, referred to as "oil" because of the apparent oily or slippery feel, of the prepared water and chloride solution, on the skin. There are only two primary ingredients, distilled water and magnesium chloride. Essential oil can be added if desired.

At $10.00 per 500g Magnesium Chloride, a litre of the magnesium "oil" primary solution, can be prepared from 1 litre of distilled water, two cups of magnesium chloride flakes, and some essential oil for additional effectiveness and perfume, if desired. All this for less than $10.00/litre.

Oil in water can go rancid, so it is best to prepare your primary solution, and only add any essential oil to small quantities that will be used within a relatively short space of time. The primary solution should last as long as any salt water solution, salt being, itself, a natural preservative.

The chloride flakes can be purchased at major retail grocery stores, pharmacy (chemist) outlets, or specialist health and beauty care, ingredient suppliers. At a major online chemist retailer, the cost of 500g of magnesium chloride flakes is $10.00. In larger bulk quantities, from various outlets, the cost reduces.

At one specialist Health and beauty care ingredient supplier, a 25kg bag @ $4.80/kg = $120, p&h extra.

To purchase prepared solutions the cost on a few websites is around $20.00/100ml or $100.00/litre.

One offer is for 237ml @ $150 = $630.00/litre. This makes preparing your own a very attractive option, even with the addition of separately purchased essential oils.

And, with this method of preparation, assuming purity of the purchased ingredients, the quality of the prepared solution is guaranteed, and you know what has gone into your prepared solution. The water and chloride crystals are a solution. When oils are added and shaken, this produces an emulsion of oil(s) and water.

Hoping that this may be of interest and assistance for some members

With Best Wishes
