Getting unwell person admitted

At what point now does a person who is self harming regularly and has anger issues get admitted? It used to be when they are a harm to themselves or someone else but now when assistance is called for, the unwell person covers well, says all ok and left be. How bad does it need to get? It feels like no ones listening!

It seems the services respond to those who yell loudest.  Does your person have regular support and can you "get involved"?

Re: Getting unwell person admitted

They live in a remote country town that only has a doctor visit once a fortnight and the usual psychologist is away on leave. Police have been called numerous times but after a short chat they leave and do nothing.  Its then left to us the family to watch the cycle happen again only its getting more unpredictable lately. It takes 1-2 hours for the police to get there as usually the local one is out of town. They are over 25 and I dont believe there is a case worker to advocate.

Hi @Lilly4,

Just checking-in to see how you are going. It is so tough for your family and you to have to provide an on-going support for your family member who continues to self-harm. Smiley Sad Have you looked into getting a case worker to advocate for your loved one's well-being and care?

Hoping your whole family is getting more support than when you first posted!

Kindest,
