My first tattoo was of a butterfly - but rising from a stormy ocean into the sunshine. Butterflies make me think of rebirth into a new chapter. Their life cycle, though short, makes me feel like change can be celebrated and new starts are possible.
I really should read more into mythology though - I used to be that child who was always lost in a book (escapism), but I have struggled to find that passion in my healthy adult mode. I love the idea of dragons and Phoenix rising but I need to know more to see if they fit better.
As a traumatised mum - my spirit animal was a bear. Calm on the surface until I felt me or mine were threatened.
So I think the butterfly still resonates the most - i must be in the cocoon stage atm though. (Sloth stage?)

@SweetMonster love what you've shared! i really like the idea of rebirth, and if i'm honest i don't know too much about Phoenixes even though their my fav. i just remember watching Harry Potter movies and thinking, oh that's so cool that it was reborn from its ashes! i think i like that it can be reborn an infinite number of times. i go through a lot of 'phases' and each new 'reborn' version of me feels closer to the person i want to be.
but after reading about what butterflies mean to you, i think i've gotten a new appreciation for them. i think their short life span adds more meaning; to not take our time for granted and make the most of it. i've always associated bear with nurturing and protective energy.
the cocoon stage sounds challenging, but it also sounds exciting, knowing that your transformed self is on the way 🦋
