Re: Life can be a Pain

@Appleblossom

Good luck with the small electric heater Apple - tough on you if your son can't bear the effective heater. I know one reason I like living alone is I can have the heat at the temperature that suits around me. I am sorry to hear you can't

But I also know that at times you need to have peace at any price. I also know how bad my pain gets if I get cold,

We have to make hard choices for our kids sometimes - I do understand that

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51

I know how you have a lot of pain because of your low kidney function and you have a lot of arthritis because of it. And you can't take suitable pain killers because of your kidney function.

It really seems harsh for me that the doctors don't think you are bad enough for a kidney transplant yet. I mean - I know kidneys are short on supply of course but still - how bad to you have to be? How much pain do you have to endure?

LIfe sure is hard for a lot of people - I really hear that

Re: Life can be a Pain

Oh dear @Owlunar I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. Thinking of you as always and hoping for an improvement xox

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Anastasia

I am going from day to day hoping I can get through to the end of next week without another visit to hospital for a few days stay that I would not enjoy. I guess that will keep me at home because I prefer my independence and a slight increase in my special medication helps a lot

We have had chilly, damp weather in Melbourne and today is fine and mild and I feel more comfortable - my daughter is finding the cold weather hard to deal with too - she has orthopaedic issues too - screws in her sacro-illiac joints. It's taking a long time for her to recover from the operation last November

I hope things are okay with you and your son - I know this is an area of life that is stressful and can change dramatically - can anyone really understand? Well - perhaps understand. But can we really know how it is for you? Yes - I do understand but I don't know

Actually - mental illness and chronic pain have this in common - we can't really explain how it is to anyone even if they are on the same page. With pain they ask us where our pain is on a 1 - 10 scale yet my pain specialist told me that they can't know how much pain I am in unless I tell them - even then - I told them it was excruciating and they didn't really catch on. I guess that's how things are between you and your son and I do know about that

All the best - I care a lot

Thinking of you and your daughter  xxx

I have my blood tests next week to see how everything is going

I told the medical center  that I do not want to see the doctor I saw last time , he know nothing about kidney disease,  said it is all arthritis and he pressed where I was aching and have been in pain since

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi

 @Anastasia @greenpea @Emelia8 @Zoe7 @BlueBay @Shaz51 @Appleblossom @outlander

Tuesday afternoon

I haven't been writing anything lately - I am having another shoulder ablation and a new treatment - a fluid replacement injection into my shoulder - on Friday. Next week it will be more facet joint injections

So with an unignorable amount of pain in my back and shoulder I have been doing only the most important of tasks and pacing myself so most days I am doing bits and pieces all day long. There are better ways to live

If I let it - it could get me down but I have had worse things in my life. This is just another hurdle - I will get past it. I have been reading some of the messages here - people are not having an easy time - whether we are all over the COVID hassles - lock-downs - bad news - people trying to get home to Australia after all this time. Tough times yes - I would assume most people are over it

I don't have much news - I will be staying at my daughter's place again on Friday after my shoulder issues - I don't need to after the facet joint injections because I don't get sedated for them. And there is so much to deal with organising two different day procedures in two different hospitals - alll the info they want - surely they already have all of that info from my previous admissions in the last year or so

Still - life goes on - I am glad I live alone with all of this - if I want to stay in my dressing gown all day I do

All the best my good friends - take care of yourselves - I hope to be a regular contributer after all of these issues are attended to
